An enduring entity
Lawrence Street Office Building
Denver, Colorado
Owner: NewHeight Development Inc.
Use: General office, educational and training facilities,
medical office.
Area: 205,000 SF
Completion Date: 1982
This winning competition
entry and design-award
winning project is an early
example of a mixed-use
facility. A dynamic 14-story
office complex is shaped
by an internal courtyard
shared between residential,
retail and office users all
constructed above a shared
3-level parking garage.
Originally courtyard featured
`The Shootout' sculptures
by world-famous artist Red
Grooms, which is currently in
the collection of DAM.
The residential component
steps down to the south
as it spirals around the
site, allowing the sculpture
courtyard to be sunlit.
Attention to the distribution
of daylight is an important
component of this and
many other projects we have
designed in Colorado.
AWARDS: Honor Award,
Downtown Denver, Inc.
Award of Merit, Concrete
Institute
